  • Becky have you mastered feeding laying down? Was the lifesaving thing for me...someone will explain if you need guidance. Hi BTW. MFD xx

nope, never thought about feeding that way, do you not squash them??

well we have survived another night, woohoo!! need to go and wake ds and try to persuade him into his uniform then try and make myself vaguely presentable so i don't look like a crazy crying person when i drop him off!!

will see you all a bit later xx
  • Hi Becky - there is a youtube video about it... (well there are others, but this is the first one i found). I never worried with so many pillows though! I found it a god send - lie down with baby, then wake up when she was finished/she woke up! When she was a bit bigger I would feed her kind of on the other side of the bed, so when she fell asleep I could roll over away from her and get myself comfy rather than waking up with a numb arm. (obviously I used to put pillwows between her and the other side of the bed so she didn't fall out!) Something to experiment with later on once you have done your tearful mummy bit ;) Good luck!

    Link for you Becky :)

It is only 8:30am and my baby is already being a nightmare, clawing at me to sit on my knee and then fighting to get down and screaming because she's not on my knee. I foresee terrible things over the rest of the day.

Happy Birthday to the Birthday twins MFD & Redstar x

I have a baby who prefers to drink her porridge, and she does it really well actually, I just hold the pot to her lips and she drinks. Its less messy and way faster, I dont know why she just doesnt seem to like the spoon other than to wave it around and chew.

Off to Reading today to see OHs Great Aunt, she doesnt drive and hasnt seen Tahlie yet so while OH has some time off we thought we would visit. Its also the fur ball Harveys Birthday today :D 8years old or 64 in dog years so he is officially a pensioner hehe.
Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpuls

I think she's sprouting more new teeth, all she wants is to be on the boob. My nipples are on fire like they haven't been since she was about three weeks old :o

Good luck to all the starting / returning to school LOs today and hope the mummies have a nice quiet day without them!

So great night here, Alfie went down at 5.30pm (yes you read that right!) woke briefly for a feed about 9pm then back down til 8am!!!! He was only supposed to be going for a nap but didn't wake for his bath and feed so I left him! Must have been a hard day yesterday :rotfl:

Got cupcakes and a cake to make today but need to go shopping for ingredients first, should have done that yesterday really but never mind. Then dinner at mum's tonight, roast chicken then cherry pie for pudding

Becky, I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better. We had an horrific start to BFing - including nipples so blo0dy Sophie looked like evil vampire baby  In my hormone addled state, I really thought she was out to get me, ridiculous when I think about it now, but at the time I could barely look at her.:(

Like you, there's not a BFing 'culture' here (lowest rate in North Yorkshire!), so these fab ladies on here who know their stuff are part of the reason I kept going. It seems like you're so determined, and I wish you the best!

so glad you pointed me this way!!

well we have had an hours sleep before waking screaming and starving again!!! i think if i hadn't found you all tonight i would of given into the formula by now... although oh seems to think this is the way to go, don't think he realises how much doing this means to me.

well think i'm going to stay downstairs and clear some of my sky+, currently am watching supernanny to remind myself it could be worse

I recommend feeding lying down also. Though, I never managed it but I did find a way where I was lying back propped up on pillows and she fed lying on top of me almost. Meant I could doze while she fed and I didn't miss too much sleep.

I somehow managed to get through the problems, though mine were more that she didn't feed and was a sleepy baby, just because breastfeeding at night is so much easier than formula feeding at night!

There will come a point where you can do other things while feeding, reading, using laptop one handed (at any one point there is probably 1 person posting on here one handed) and you master a way to rest and feed at night that suits you both. When that happens, the benefits outweigh the bad bits of it.

And even with FF, they can feed as often at that age. It's just a phase, but it sucks because you are tired and hormonal. Try and get some sleep during the day, it does help.
