Hi there,
Im looking for a bit of advice, My son wants the new xbox 360 from Santa
I dont know which one to buy!
I think the 4gb one will be plenty of storage for him, He's only 7 and isnt allowed online so wont be downloading etc but my hubby thinks for 50 pound extra hes better off with the 250gb
I will be getting him kinect too....Dont know whether that makes a difference?
Which would you recommend?
Thanks

for future proof i would get the 250GB
M$ charge way too much for the hard drives(wish they had followed the PS3 model on that!)0 -

The 250GB one. The 4GB one is a bit of a con.0

If you can afford it, go for the 250GB model.
Saying that, my 7 year old has an Arcade 360 (the cheaper older model with only a 512MB card) and that does him fine.Dave. :wave:0 -
you will only end buying a hard drive later , so get the 250GB now IMO .
depending on what sort of telly you have and how you plan on connecting the Xbox to the TV , should greatly influence what Xbox you buy .
if you have a spare HDMI slot and a HD telly then you have to go for the new 250GB console that sell for around £199
. HDMI makes a huge improvement in picture quality , even over Component hook up .
save now on a cheap arcade or old white type console and you will pay later !! the built in Wireless connection alone makes the new model worth the cash .
oh and BTW he will be begging you to play it online over Xbox live pretty soon . i would look to see if you can get a bundle that includes the new Call of Duty "Black Ops " game in November . that will be the one he will want to be playing ...Guaranteed
as for Kinect , it remians to be seen if it will be worth the cash yet . wait and read some reviewsBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Definitely the 250gb 1, the 1 with the 4gb isnt worth it as it will quickly fill up with game demos etc,for example some demos can be 1 Gig in size so 3 demos of 1 g in size and its full up. I have the 120 gig console and ive got 70 g still to fill0

Maybe he's a Halo fanboy?
I would recommend the 250GB, it comes with built-in Wi-Fi a nice big 250GB HDD and is compatible with Kinect straight away. He may not be looking for that type of space now but soon he will keep wanting more memory and you will probably regret getting the 4GB one.0 -

What I meant to say is the new xbox has a specialised port for the kinect device whereas old xbox's will need a spare usb port0

The 4gb is the new one too, and also has the kinect port. From what I could tell the only difference is the hard drive space. And at the moment, the difference in price that I can see, between the 2 consoles, is about 60 quid, which is what a 250gb hard drive will set you back (very quick searches, may well be better deals out there).
So depending on where the best deal to be found is, you may actually find it cheaper to buy it in either version, and just add the new hard drive yourself.
Amazon gives you the HDMI cable free with either one.
Personally I'd wait and see (depending on your interest in Kinect) which bundle potentially offers the most discount, and work from there.
EDIT - Overall, I would guess that perhaps at the moment, the 4gb would be the better one to go for. Since the price difference is the cost of a hard drive, go for the smaller one, and if he then needs more space, upgrade (birthday present or some such
), or if not, you've saved 60 quid. 0
