0800 Reverse - £3.48 per call connected + 50p/min

Options
As my heading says....
]0800 Reverse charges £3.48 per call connected + 50p/min to landlines.
]They were done by the ASA because they didn't tell people this on the adverts in the telephone kiosks...they said 'People can check our prices on the web'...not particularly useful if you're in the middle of rainy Bognor at 1am.
]I know this coz my dearest daughter used it 'because i didn't have much credit left on my mobile'.

    Teach the kids the workaround:

Alternatively, you can get the 0800reverse 'service' permanetly switched off (doesn't affect the BT version).

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I did not know the charge was this high. My son used this service 3 times yesterday to phone me.
He tried telling me that because he hung up before speaking I would not be charged.
  • I asked this on another thread, but it is probably better here:

Can you still dial th opporator on 100 rom a call box and ask for a reverse charge call? If so, what is the charge for this?

  • My dd had to call me last year on reverse charge-yes-it cost me about £7 total. They have started putting a notice in kiosks which states the charges now-well-in Inverness they did-not sure about the rest of the UK though.

Alternatively, if she has some credit but not much, and plenty of battery on her mobile, she could call you but hang up before you answer. That way no credit is used, and when you check 1471 you'd know it's her.

  • Hi when my daughter needs to speak to me with no credit left on her phone, she does the 0800 reversed, you get a recorded message asking if you will accept charge, you answer no then ring her back on her mobile, only costs incured are from your landline to mobile. it works every time.
