Travel insurance - pre-existing conditions - to declare or not to declare

Direct Travel doesn't let you "cherry pick". You can either cover all PEMC's or none, no middle ground.
The new free Nationwide FlexAccount travel insurance doesn't let you cherry pick either. If you decline cover you cannot go back and add a new condition during the policy year.
Well can only speak from person experience and when I called and bought our cover, I was asked if I wanted to cover every single one of the pre-existing conditions I declared.0 -

Agreed, I have a pre-existing condition which would have trebled the premium and as it is something that has been stable over many years and could not cause any medical problems while on holiday Direct Travel allowed me to excluded it.0 -
Thanks for your responses so far. warez22, do you know any insurers that might exclude the depression but allow other conditions? That would be useful, but the quotes I've had so far have either excluded both conditions or allowed both at the extra premium.
Don't know whether you've sorted your insurance yet but I have a back condition and when we went to Thailand earlier this year I was just getting well from bronchitis. I'm 33 years old and got my insurance through Colombus. Covered both conditions and premiums were reasonable. Felt stupid even mentioning bronchitis as was after a common cold but better to be safe than sorry. Like you, didn't want to end up ill, whether related or not, and have them reject the claim because I'd gone to the doctor about a nasty cough!!0 -

I spoke to Direct Travel just last week and asked if I could exclude two of my PEMC's and was told I could cover them all or exclude them all, but not just include some. In fact the advisor said that some companies would allow you to exclude some of them.
I may try again with a different advisor in that case.
Thanks for the info.0 -
Hi there
my ds whos 6 broke his arm in July - involved an op and a 2 night stay in hospital - we have another appointment with the trauma clinic in October - cast has been removed. Now obviously I want to declare this (as he has been told that if he falls in the next few weeks we could be back to square one).
Now, we are going to Disneyland Paris for 4 days end of Sept and need some travel insurance - can anyone recommend some companies so I can get quotes that cover pre-existing conditions. I have done a quote with PJ Hayman just wanted some others to compare cover/costs
thanks in advance
