Loss of No Claims Bonus
Can someone please explain this to me.
I quite understand and agree with the fact that if you are not driving a vehicle or living and driving abroad for two or more years then you will loose any no claims bonus you have been awarded.
But if you start to drive a company car, a fleet vehicle or even a Motabilty vehicle the same rule still seems to apply. As far as im concerned the above drivers will still be insured and driving on a daily basis which, from where im standing, means they should still be able to use their NCB when they eventually take out a private policy no matter how long it's been.
I have written to our family insurer and the only answer I get is "It's company policy"
Any thoughts?

You are stuck with the company policy. Which is pretty much universal amongst all the companies. The only major thing they vary on is the length of time they are prepared to accept old NCD. (Some more than 2 years, others less).
You can see if a local broker can get you an introductory discount to reflect your claim free driving experience, as some companies do give credit by way of discount for ex company car drivers with clean histories.0 -
Or if you have the space, insure the smallest cheapest MOT failure you can find and keep it SORNed...
....... is car NCB transferable to motorbikes ? (a moped would be cheaper to insure and easier to store
