How can they do this?

Having read Martin's article on Healthcare cashback schemes I decided to go and get one. After a 3 month qualifying period where I could not make a claim I was keen to start claiming. 3 months later and less than half way to my limit on alternative therapies (not a single claim for anything else) they wrote to me saying that they could not renew my policy and it would expire in 28 days. Their reason: we were claiming more than the average person. Never mind the fact that we weren't anywhere near their own set limit. After phoning around various other companies they all confirmed that if the limit was anywhere near being reached even in only one sector, then they would cancel the policy as the individual would be making too much of a profit.
So although technically they are saying that you are entitled to this money, they won't actually let you have it. Is this not false advertising? Is there anything we can do to get the money that they say (in the beginning, at least) we can have?

Well haven't you already admitted as such you only took the policy out for it to pay for the treatments, ie 'I was keen to start claiming'? Surely thats abuse of the policy and probably what they were trying to stop. It keeps the prices down for everyone else that way, and the company has to make some money too.
Like you say, if you started claiming right after the initial 3 months and in only one area, then that has to look suspect to the company. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but this is the kind of thing that ruins it for other people.

The thing is that I only took this policy out after reading Martin's article on Healthcare cashback schemes, where he says that you can make a great deal of money. Since the companies have advertised that you can claim up to a set limit in various different areas then they should honor this - it's their limits after all. If they don't want you making so many claims then they should drop their limits to what they see as an acceptable amount instead of leading people up the garden path.
My point is: They say you can claim this much, in reality they will stop you before you even get to half. That is not right.£66.77/£240 Grocery Challenge0
