Santander Cards help

Hi,

We have a credit card debt with Santander, and whilst in hardship for around the last 6 months or so have been duly paying them a token £10 per month. Despite having originally sent them an income & expenditure/budget list, a list of creditors etc as produced for us by the CCCS, they recently started hounding us through their Viking Collections for the whole debt, wanting our normal contractual monthly payments instead of the £10 they have happily been accepting until now.

We wrote to complain about this treatment whilst in hardship. They have written back saying 'I can confirm you did not supply proof of your income and expenditure form. I understand you agreed with the CCCS to complete and submit your own monthly budget form to us. Unfortunately you did not do this and your account was passed back to Viking Collections.' Now this is absolute tosh - the income/expenditure forms + list of creditors we sent them was all pre-printed on CCCS headed paper, as was originally sent to us by CCCS to give to all our creditors. At no time had we agreed with CCCS to complete & submit our own monthly budget form - as they are trying to say.

Anyone in, or been in, a similar position with Santander? Any advice where to go from here?

Send your income and expenditure forms back to them and tell them that your financial position has not changed.
  • Having now recently resent all our income/expenditure forms as drawn up by CCCS, Santander have today written telling us to now additionally supply them with bank statements. I was under the apprehension that the budgetary forms supplied by CCCS were acceptable to them as proof of income and that there should be no need to provide anything else. Can anyone in this position with Santander confirm? Thanks
  • Hi got the same thing going on with Capital One just send your SOA as some one else said they cant force you to provide anything else and its nothing to do with them what you do with your money you SOA shows that to some extent and its also not upto them to work out what you can afford either

Thanks for that, sounds reasonable although this is the second time now that they have demanded we provide bank statements on top of what the CCCS have already provided. If there are any Santander customers who have been/are down this same route, please advise your experience on this subject. Cheers/

    Dear Santander

Than you for your letter acknowledging reciept of our Income and Expenditure forms. Your request that we send you bank statements is noted. We can confirm that we do have bank statements and that all information sent to you is made with reference to these statements, but on this occasion we consider that they would not assist you. Therefore, we regret we do not feel obliged to make this information available to you. If you have any further questions we would be pleased to assist.

    Yours sincerely

Lol, great letter. I would imagine it would antagonize them more than anything else!

This shows them that you won't be bullied, which is what they are trying to do. Send a formal letter of complaint about this issue if necessary.

  • Santander still insisting on statements, CCCS telling me I shouldn't need to provide them if they have the income/expenditure as produced by them.

Would really appreciate anyone who is, or has, dealt with Asda/Santander credit cards and has provided them with CCCS info. Just really need to establish once and for all whether they have a right to demand statements.

They don't. Your I/E form is enough.

Thank you. That's what I believed, I really don't know why they continue to insist on statements in addition when they have my I/E form and other bits from CCCS already.
