I'll have a guess at what OS you have. Generally if people don't say, it will be a version of Windows. Could be one of several, but lets guess... XP.
If you open My Computer and then browse your hard disk (almost always the C: drive letter) you should be able to find the program file itself.
In an example PC I have here, the program is in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11, and the program is called WINWORD.EXE (don't worry about upper or lower case - Windows doesn't care which you use).
Right-click the program file, and choose either "Send to" "Desktop (create shortcut)" or "Create Shortcut". You can then right-click and "Rename" to give it a better appearance than "Shortcut to WINWORD.EXE".
You can add it to your Start menu by left-click-and-hold and dragging it onto the Start button and waiting for the menu to open, and then dragging it to the place in the menu where you want it.
[Edit: The above example is for Word, obviously. You need to do the same for the other Office components as well.]0
