Who's your parcel courier?

Usually I use www.parcels4delivery.com, however over the weekend there has been a massive hike in their prices following an email from them.
I have since found in a search www.courierpoint.co.uk who are doing a mainland UK deal for £7.99plus VAT.The package size can also be 60x60x90(great size)
cm with a max weight of 25kgs.

Has anyone used them and can anyone recommend other cheap courier firms.

Ps.If you are still taking your larger items to the post office you may want to check out the courier website via a google search. Not only will they collect but they can be much cheaper.

I used a courier for the first time today, to send a 9.5kg package, used CitySprint, for £10.50. Should be there next day, so not bad. Lucky seeing as i added £12 p&p costs as a pure guess!

  • I use parcel2go and have been pleased with their service in the past.

However last week I had three separate problems. A parcel was delivered damaged, they took 3 days to deliver a parcel instead of next day and failed to collect a parcel on Friday which is supposed to be collected today.

Don't let the above put you off though!!!!

I use parcel2go too, luckly never had a problem
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
  • The driver has just collected the parcel that should have been picked up on Friday. Apparently our usual driver is on holiday and he couldn't find us. To be fair we do live in a very rural area.

Despite last weeks' mishaps, I will continue to use them as prior to that I've had excellent service.
  • I have just used this service.

I have used the service for the first time, Just had 3 parcels picked up by DHL.
They have great great feedback - over 600 pos this month 0 negs.. Many returning customers.
If you use them, make sure you fill out the booking form after you have paid.
I didn't and waited in all day on Friday having thought I had made the booking (Totally my fault.). They responded to my email very quickly to clear things up.
You certainly will not beat their price.

PS. The way I have touted this service, you might think I have something to do with them. I assure you I haven't.

    Pharos are also next day

and often have competitive rates. Unlike many carriers there is no surcharge for the Highlands, islands and N Ireland.

I see they do a reasonable quotes to the remoter areas.
For the UK mainland it would seem like Steves information above at £5.99 is
worth a try.I have also seen them do it next day for that price which a huge
parcel dimension 120x60x60 up to 31.5kg they had listed on Ebay recently.
  • I registered with interparcel.com in July and there was something somewhere about a 5% discount but I cannot remember quite what! Anyway, they worked great and prices were excellent for a huge 10kg parcel Scotland to London, I think £9.99.

I find that all carriers have their off days. Ultimately it is down the the individual driver many of whom seem to be given more deliveries and collections than can fit into a day. Most 'next day' parcel deliveries if you read the small print are not guaranteed but are described as normally next day. Even with timed deliveries where you pay a supplement for delivery by mid day or whatever, if the parcel is late you often just get the extra refunded. This is why PO Special Delivery is so good as they refund the entire cost if delivery is not attempted on time.
