Sounds like yet another success Eaaglemar - the PO Box is unusual - why not write the address given on the Action Fraud web site, namely: Intrum Justitia Ltd, 5th Floor, The Plaza, 100 Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L3 9QJ.
You are correct in suspecting that you will not get any confirmation of receipt of your letter - I know of no-one who has ever received such a letter - not on this forum anyway!!!

Indeed, I dont think I will be sending the letter to a PO box for it to just sit there. I actually work in Liverpool so if I could be bothered I could actually drop the letter off at their offices personally!
Whether I have been successful in fending these crooks off will have to wait and see if I receive more mail through my front door.

Thanks for the good wishes guys.

My Dad was very concerned by receiving these letters I have to say. He may well have had a stroke - we're waiting for the results of a CT scan at the moment. I don't think either of us would relish the prospect of court action given his current state of health but if I hear anything more from them and have any more bother I may well consider it. My Dad would probably qualify for Legal Aid so it would just be a case of priming the solicitor and setting him loose on them. Quite a pleasing prospect, actually;).

Cheers,

Sorry to hear that Jahman, if it is indeed a stroke then it could well be down to the stress of all this as raised blood pressure does make people more susceptable to strokes, particularly in the elderly :(
• Jahman, sorry to hear about your dad. Hope he is on the mend soon.
• If I ring IJ do you think they will tell me which Bank account the money was paid into?

Yes, use the number I phoned, they will tell you the bank but of course not the account number. They will also tell you the last few digits of the mobile phone number used.
So they obviously know where the money has gone, surely they can get the money back from RBS as expect that is where it has all gone.

If they have paid any money out at all, you may find these accounts are owned by MCO or MCO/personnel. That way they leave a partially legit paper trail that will appear OK to the NFIB, and it doesn't cost very much. You could in fact pay all £1.5M round in a loop then sell the debt on to IJ for £150,000? Just speculation, but it's a comforting thought that IJ might have been stung.
• I've been a victim of this scam. I recieved my 3rd letter last Friday and became totally traumatised by it - all my letters seem to arrive at the weekend when I can do nothing about it, and it stress me so much over the weekend!

Yesterday, I phoned IJ and spoke to a very helpful lady who apologised for the 3rd letter being sent out as they had been contacted by MCO last Friday who said they would take back all the accounts that had been reported as Fraud, I should disregard the letter and no further action would be taken.

I have since confirmed my telephone converstion I had with this lady (make sure you always ask for their name, so you can quote this) in an email to IJ this morning (email address I used was ukcustomerqueries@intrum.com) - always put a read receipt on your emails! Within 7 minutes the Quality and Compliance Supervisor replied back confirming that IJ will not be contacting me again.

Yesterday morning I went to ask BBC Watchdog (for the second time) if they could please do an item on this scam on their programme and the answer I got was that they only investigate well known company names! They didn't seem that interested in this and said that they would speak to the Editor ... I got the feeling that my information I gave was either going into the bin or at the bottom of the pile. Surely Martin Lewis reads these forums on his own website, as he's a member of the BBC Watchdog team, surely he should be standing up and making the people aware of this scam, as I'm sure there are plenty of elderly and vulnerable people out there that have been so frightened about these letters, they have just paid!

Good news that BBC's Money Box and the Sunday Times seem to be doing something about this.

Let's hope we can convince the goverment to regulate these companies that offer pay day loans online and make better security checks. Also the CRA's need to be better regulated - I personally think that there should just be the one CRA, why have different companies which hold different information.
• I have received 1 letter from Balanceloan & 2 from Helploan each stating that I owe £513 for a loan from MCO Capital that I never took out, I just thought they were scams and could ignore them but yesterday I received a letter from a Debt Collection Company called Intrum Justitia saying I owed £726, so I called the Police who gave me a crime reference number and they told me to check out my credit rating on Experian, so I registered with Experian and sure enough it shows that a loan has been taken out in my name so I rang the debt collection company who told me that I have been a victim of identity theft, they took the crime ref no. and would be contacting MCO to let them know that I am a victim of the fraud. Anyone receiving these letters should contact the police as soon as possible and get a crime reference number or you could end up getting the balliffs on your door.
DO NOT IGNORE THE LETTERS REPORT THEM TO THE POLICE.
