  • So Robbie, should we call you Robin Hood or Sherriff?............. I'm confused...
  • I can tell I'm dealing with a criminal mastermind.

    From the Lloyds TSB site
As long as you're registered for Internet Banking you can open an eSavings account in moments.

Let me walk you through this Robie - very slowly. :)

To get internet banking you must open an account :j

    - and to do that you get (have) to speak face to face with one of those nice people who want ID and stuff. That's the law. If I get a call from the Queen saying she wants to open an account over the phone, the answer's 'no'. Do you know why she will be happy about that ?

Waiting - - - - - because if I did that everyone in Dagenham would have an account in the name of the Queen. Now we have the case solved. The police have arrested 9,000 people in Dagenham all with an account in the name of the Queen. :rotfl:

Okie dokie - then you get internet banking after you've got your account up and running. They want you to pay in money, tell you that you can't have any cards until the moon is in its third phase and Jupiter ia aligned with Mars. You can explain you're a fraudster and time is tight, but banks don't move quickly even for fraudsters.

When you're old and wrinkly then you might get the savings account you mention. I'm being flippant, but the principle of what I'm saying is true.

Perhaps you could even set up multiple subsidiary accounts styled

Mr Robbie Nudd - Cat Food
    Mr Robbie Nudd - Petrol

I don't want to cover every complex alternative but say you want an account in the name of Robbie Nudd and the Green Elf - guess what ? - yep we want to see the Green Elf.

None of this is technical stuff. Believe me - compared with you I'm a Ninja Grand Master. :rotfl:
  • I opened my contributions with a fairly basic methodology on how this fraud was carried out. It's fairly pointless getting into a debate with someone who clearly knows better than I about this when I'm unable to disclose what I know. If persons are able to carry out this sort of fraud to the amounts quoted, the opening of bank accounts would not be much of a stumbling block; the subsequent opening of multiple e-accounts even less so. Perhaps when we hear more about the bailed man (assuming he's charged) we will know more. In the interim I suggest those people who have been stung by this fraud get together rather than continue with a debate on how/why/when/where as above which is conjecture until more details are released through the proper channels. Frankly when I said I was off the board until I could release more was a good decision; clearly reappearing and being challenged each and every time I posted anything hasn't been particularly helpful when we consider the many people who have had letters from MCO and their collection cohorts. Perhaps we should return to that aspect rather than speculate on the nature/detail of how this was done.
  • After giving birth, opening a bank account is possibly one of the most difficult things a human being can do, in the UK anyway, and so it should be.

Having accepted that point Robie you're forced back to your Rune stones and inside knowledge, or visions. I might place greater credence on your claims if you hadn't demonstated a complete lack of knowledge of how the banking system functions, a quality you share with MCO Capital.

I'm happy to believe there's a possibility MCO Capital might be blameless but that just means that they're the most crackpot bonkers organisation ever allowed access to the UK financial market. Take your pick.Perhaps one person just sat at his computer banging the same info in 9,000 times just altering his name and address but whose database did he use to obtain that information ?

To make grahamqat feel less isolated it would make economic sense for the fraud to be operated 'in house'. At £300 a pop it would be excruciatingly tedious for someone outside to go to that effort without certainty of success, and there's only way to guarantee success, and why did MCO Capital believe that making loans that never get repaid a profitable escapade ?

Defraud me once, shame on you - defraud me 9,000 times, who's kidding who ?

Gomer and Robie. You are both highly valued forum members and surely it would be better if you could channel your efforts and undoubted talents and experience towards the common enemy - MCO/Helploan/fraudsters etc rather than knocking spots off one another? Just a thought and a polite request!!
  • I would echo that Geomacl. We've all got a bit wound up (including me) and clearly there are strongly held convictions about what has happened, unfortunately many of them quite different. It is undoubtedly more useful for people to feel free to air and share their views via this forum, than to feel inhibited. So probably we should post info rather than speculation. Still think it's all MCO's fault though.

I'm off to watch Scotland's rugby team being whacked by the All Blacks - who says I'm not a glutton for punishment???
    Have at it folks.
  • I think we're all largely of one mind. apart from Robie who has resorted to an undisclosed conspiracy theory as the only way to defend MCO Capital from blame. Robie's partialiam irks me as his ideas inevitably represent an attempt to excuse MCO without a jot of evidence. His ideas so far make no sense, so I'm not excited by the potential of his future revelations being any less zany.

CRA's and debt recovery agents don't come out of it with their reputations wnhanced - far from it, and their attitude of lacadaisical indifference as long as the fees come rolling in, is neither pretty nor indicative of a responsible attitude.

Frauds of this type are very easy to unravel and I imagine that the police are just collecting evidence now. The fraud was marginally better organised than MCO Capital, but that's not saying much.

Ironically MCO Capital have possibly done the consumer a favour in bringing such massive exposure to the faults in this murky area of the trade.

    Nobody Loves MCO Capital.

Dont worry Gomer, you arent the first to have had a run in with Robie and probably wont be the last. As soon as his arguments are called into question he runs for the hills talking about his insider knowledge. So nothing new really.
  • I received a letter from my MP this morning (Amber Rudd), it was quite positive as she says "I find it extraordinarythat such companies holding a Consumer Credit Licence are allowed to behave in such a manner, accordingly, I have written to Mr John Fingleton, Chairman of the Board of the Office of Fair Trade, enclosing a copy of your email, to ask for his comments to the serious issues which you have highlighted. When I receive his reply, I will write to you again."

Although this took about 2 weeks from me sending the email I hope she has had some background work done to ensure she knows what she is complaining about.
