The much-advertised Santander

My mother is trying - trying! - to get a transfer from her Santander ISA to another bank. She received a letter from her 'receiving' bank yesterday to say that Santander had not responded to their requests for a transfer, and that if they did not receive this transfer within 30 days they reserved the right to withdraw their acceptance if Santander did not complete the transfer within the 30 day period.

What are Santander playing at?
Has anyone else on here had this?
What to do about it?

It wasn't with Santander, but when I transferred two ISAs earlier this year I received letters from the new company about each old ISA along the lines of "we've not yet heard anything, perhaps you'd like to check that things are OK?". Everything worked out in the end.

There would be problems if you were still tied in to a fixed term with Santander.

I have transferes my ISA the other way around from other Bankto Santander as Santander offer unbeatable APR and with no issue at all.

I think it is a good idea to see how this work in other way around, if we see other bank offer hgher APR and we want to tranfer our ISA from Santander to this bank.

The interest rate is good in Santander but they can be inaccessible as a provider - phone or visit to branch only - and phone queuing is irritating! There are other online providers who provide rates which are almost as good: Online enabling one to see at-a-glance just what the 'state of play' is with any changes of interest, and make changes/ withdrawals/ deposits with ease.

BTW, my mum informs me that the transfer IS going through, as she managed - finally!:T - to get through by phone.
