Dr Who Collectors Item ?

Sorry, don't know where ( if anywhere ) to post this !
I've picked up, quite by accident, 2 Dr Who 'Cyberman Controllers' 5" figures but both packaged in 'Cyberman' packaging ie the 'Controller' bit is missing. Would these turn out to be valuable in time do you think ? *Gets loft ladder down just in case*

Depends..these things are sold in the tens of thousands but if they are still in packaging they may sell especially to the overseas market.
Incidentally, there are two sorts of cybermen figures, both look the same one has cyber controller on the packet and the other just cyberman. I'm searching for pictures as I type and have found ebay item 200028930490 which is a lovely example.
Also you might want to look at this link:
http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19881
these figures were sold by Toys'R'Us with a free Dr Who figure, they originally cost £6.99 but are currently showing as out of stock.
You might get more from a collectors club or a dealer, some Dr Who fans will pay a lot for an item if they are missing it from their collection.
Sorry I can't be more helpful but action figures are a huge market and very specialised. Some things go way over what you would expect, and some things can barely be given away. I recently traded a few Star Trek original model figures (for fun not for profit) and if they had been stored from new they would actually have made the buyer a loss in real terms.
Good luck

Thanks Soo for your reply. Yes the figures are the 5" versions. The Cyberman has the brain showing and the white eyes so should be packaged as the 'Cyberman Controller' and not just 'Cyberman' which doesn't have the brain showing or the white eyes.

I have a couple of the Cyberman Controllers (a) but in the plain Cyberman boxes (b)0 -
If it is a mistaken package then I would certainly suggest you either find a dealer, or a Dr Who forum as they will pay more for it. ALternatively put it on ebay but with a high start price so it doesn't get undersold.
Suprisingly enough wrong packaging occurs quite regularly on sci fi items, Kirk sold in Spock packaging etc. The old ones can fetch quite a bit of money, but there has been some discussion as to whether the newer mistakes are intentional. Sci fi is a huge market and getting a little overwhelmed with the amount of collectable items for sale, if 250,000 cybermen are sold it would seem a good marketing ploy to accidentally package a small batch in wrong packets to sell them as well to the same people that have already bought them in the right packaging. As i say this is just a suggestion and I'm not sure if people really believe it to be true or not, but if not there are an awful lot of careless factory workers packing these things :A
