Leeds - coach or car? Hotel ideas please

I live in Leicester and want to visit Leeds later this month, staying over for a night or two at a hotel.
I'm not too sure to go by coach (£24 return) or driving up there. There are advantages and disadvantages to both of these.
One of the best advantages of taking my car is that I can save a bit of money by staying at a hotel on the outskirts of the city centre. I used to live in Leeds myself, but not been there since dumping my ex 3 years ago, so I know with a little searching on the internet, which hotels are near bus routes.
Also, what is a good hotel? I don't want anything plush. Something like a chain hotel such as Travelodge, Premier Inn type thing will do.

The Queens? That would cost mega bucks!
Ok, if driving, try one on the outskirts, or further out. For example, in Morley, you have the hotel on Bruntcliffe Lane (chain one, but can't remember its name)
Or just off the Motorway, you have the Village Hotel (South Leeds). In Headingley, you have the Village Hotel (North Leeds). I can recommend the South Leeds one for food, but haven't stayed there.0 -

"everything close to hand even the Coach Station on Wellington Road !"
That will be Wellington Street and the coach station moved to the bus station on the other side of the city at least 10 years ago!
Plenty of chain hotels in and around Leeds. Travelodge website map shows them all with cheapest room available.0 -
closest cheap hotel to the bus station is the etap - personally I wouldn't go that cheap
I'd look at the cheap chain hotels near the armery - its a 5- 10 min walk to the bus station but will be quieter and you might get a nice view of the canal/ riverHad a thrifty wedding 17-06-10
