I am due to go on hol 16th Sept. I am going to hospital for a scan on the 15th Sept to see if I have a patent foramen ovale/ atrial septal aneurysm

This is a total new condition to me that has prob been there since birth and as I am 39 now it has never affected me

My partner got insurance when he booked the hol and now I am wondering it I will be covered. I told Dr I was due to go on holiday the next day and they said it was fine. Doc said if there is a problem it is a minor one that may well be left

What should I do?

Travel insurance won't cover undiagnosed conditions until there is a firm diagnosis. Even if you did manage to get it diagnosed before you went it still wouldn't be covered if the insurance was bought after the condition was found.

You still need travel insurance for many other things so you should get it ASAP.
  • This is where I am confused what I am supposed to do.

When hol was booked we got insurance out but I don't know if this will still be valid

I know it might exclude pre existing conditions but I have no confirmation of a condition..

Did the insurance your partner take out cover both of you or just him? Sorry, but I read it as he took out insurance for himself and not you.

If it was to cover both of you, I would wait until you have a firm diagnosis then advise the insurance company as soon as you know. If you call them before it is diagnosed they will probably tell you that they won't cover an undiagnosed condition.

If this is a new condition with no previous history then it should be covered, but you need to confirm that with your insurer.
