car insurance query

Hi, I've recently changed my car. When I phoned the insurance company to sort out the details, I informed them that I had changed jobs. However, I've just noticed that they haven't corrected this and they still have me working for my previous employer (I'm now self employed). How important is this? If I needed to make a claim would i have to prove where I currently work? It's past the seven days that I have to inform them of any changes so I don't know whether to ignore this and hope it's okay or whether to phone and risk having charges incurred for changes to my policy.
I would appreciate any advice...

Tell them now of the change in occ or risk the Insurance being invalid. The Insurers will need details of the type of self employment and they could adjust the premium.
It does not matter that you are slightly late in telling them. Better to do so before any claim, as otherwise it could cost you thousands. i.e Insurers not paying claim, voiding Insurance and increased cost of future cover. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
