Roller blinds - chain operated or spring loaded best?

I think the spring loaded ones look better without that plasticky chain but do they work as well....??

  • On cheap ones the spring mechanism won't last long. But the plasticy chain ones look cheap anyway.

I've had the spring loaded roller blind and had problems with it. After talking to the curtain shop owner and taking her advice to go with the plasticky chain type for a new roller blind....................I've had no problems. I don't worry that visitors may think my home furnishings look cheap/plasticky/unfashionable.:p:D

The spring loaded ones are a pita, go for ones with a chain. There are some out there that have chrome chains instead....

Agree about the spring loaded ones, haven't had them in our house but had them in holiday homes where they were carp! At home ours have the plastic chains (which don't bother me nor do I worry about what other people think) but they were the cheaper cut-them yourself from Dunelm. If you go to a specialist blind shop you might find they have them with chrome chains, or maybe you can replace the plastic chains with chrome ones if you can find somewhere that sells them.
