On cheap ones the spring mechanism won't last long. But the plasticy chain ones look cheap anyway.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

I've had the spring loaded roller blind and had problems with it. After talking to the curtain shop owner and taking her advice to go with the plasticky chain type for a new roller blind....................I've had no problems. I don't worry that visitors may think my home furnishings look cheap/plasticky/unfashionable.:p:D10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. The spring loaded ones are a pita, go for ones with a chain. There are some out there that have chrome chains instead....Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Agree about the spring loaded ones, haven't had them in our house but had them in holiday homes where they were carp! At home ours have the plastic chains (which don't bother me nor do I worry about what other people think) but they were the cheaper cut-them yourself from Dunelm. If you go to a specialist blind shop you might find they have them with chrome chains, or maybe you can replace the plastic chains with chrome ones if you can find somewhere that sells them.0
