Has anyone noticed the amount of dca's and companys now issuing CCJ action?
The numbers seem to be going up, why do people think this is?

are they? i haven't really noticed any rise in reported cases being taken to court myself......."A wise man once told me don't argue with fools because people from a distance can't tell who is who"........0

One reason maybe because they can, and that since more people are aware of their own rights maybe the DCAs are using theirs?
With a recession on its not like there is a shortage of work, I just assume places like MSE are doing such a good job, the debt collectors are having to fight a bit harder.
Obviously you do have to consider if you are basing your opinion on posts not actual statistics, it could simply be that more people are coming to the forums and they come only when a CCJ has been started. Remember 42% of statistics are just made up.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
your sig is also very suspect, makes me think you have a vested interest in trying to scare folks into paying dca's by wrongly stating that dca's are increasingly taking debtors to court.
not "in the trade" yourself are you?......"A wise man once told me don't argue with fools because people from a distance can't tell who is who"........0 -

nope far from it, IT trade. Just was always bought up to pay what I owe. I have understanding for those that cant pay rather than dont want to pay. As a business people have to take into account that any loss is always made up somewhere else. My view of action is how many today alone have been posted.0 -

fair enough, but there is a difference between paying what you owe and blindly accepting everything a creditor claims from you, i have challenged several of my credit accounts and had over £3,000 returned to me, why? because the creditor never should have taken it in the first place and they too should "pay what they owe" except very few of them seem to have had the values imparted upon them that your parents have imparted upon you......."A wise man once told me don't argue with fools because people from a distance can't tell who is who"........0 -
but if you say spend on a credit card less charges, do you think these should be paid? Or if a loan is taken that they are entitled to at least their money back even without charges? A lot of people wont even pay this.0

yes i do agree that if you borrow money you should pay it back, i don't condone trying to avoid paying legitimate debts.
on the flip side of that when i hear reports of people using loopholes to avoid repaying creditors i do tend to think,"what goes around comes around"
banks rip some people off, some people rip banks off, it's six of one and half a dozen of the other and so i tend not to preach to either side, personally......."A wise man once told me don't argue with fools because people from a distance can't tell who is who"........0
