im currently with aviva and due for renewal end of the month, i have cancelled the rewnewal as its a ripp off and they wont drop the price. they have me down as having 5 yrs NCB, i told them i have more than that, either 6 or 7yrs, they said they only recognise to a max of 5 yrs. i then asked if they have what actual years ncb i have earned and they do not know and told me to contact my previous insurer. thing is i cannot remember who that was and will need the exact year for my new insurance quotes. i have rang two companies, check my bank statement but that only goes back 12 months. is there any way i can find this out without ringing every company??? any advice would be gooooood.

When you arranged cover with Aviva, you would have told them who your previous Insurers were. See if Aviva have this information recorded somewhere.
Failing that, you will have to keep searching. Your bank or credit card company will provide older statements for a fee. Banks and credit card companies, have to keep the records and be able to provide them for a period of atleast 7 years.
Anticipating a question. There is no central database for getting the information, beyond 12 months. I don't think the Motor Insurance Database people will be able to help.
http://www.askmid.com/The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

The MID will give you the name of your insurer and policy number as long as you know the car reg. It will cost you £3.50 though. I'm a solicitor and I use it all the time.0
