How much?????
Obviously I need to sell them but a number of my books were close to £50 looking at what other people are selling them for. These down and that's Christmas paid! :T

Hi Numpty,
good luck with selling them - its a good time of year for Uni + text books but they do need to be up to date editions. There's an excellent board on this forum: 'Ebay & other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board' which has loads of advice for new sellers in the first posting.
I found it really helpful and started selling on Amazon after reading it - been doing so since April and have sold quite a few books and CDs that were just gathering dust.
Hope it works for you & the good thing is there's no upfront fee for lisitng and it doesn't cost owt if they don't sell

I was amazed, just got my book list from college and went straight to amazon, thought i would do it the dfw way!!.........found out they were all selling for £2 cheaper than the RRP, so basically add postage and they would be more expensive :-(.........have to buy them new, but will keep them in mint condition and sell them at the end of the year:-)0

Do you not have a textbook sale on campus? The SU usually organises one for 2nd years to sell to 1st years & so on .Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -
I agree with teapot2, it's a great time to sell them. I listed a whole range of books 2 weeks ago (mainly psychology books and teaching books) and have made £200!!!
Just make sure you always put the edition if applicable as the ISBN's can sometimes bring up a pic of a slightly later edition.OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
I'm pretty impressed with how easy Textbooks sell on Amazon. I've managed to make about £100 this past week.. The only problem is postage.. Don't underprice yourself initially, because even though you get a postage allowance from Amazon, this really isn't enough to cover the cost of buying packaging/posting heavy textbooks etc... But if you're sure you'll never need the books again, then any profit is better than a pile of medical textbooks that had been sitting under my bed for the last few years!
Good Luck!!! 0 -
i've sold three books in the last two weeks, but the fees work out at around 23%, and then I have to count in the postage.
I am finding amazon much less lucrative than eBay.It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
I've just bought about 13 text books on Amazon. Some were £35 new and I got them for £4-£8 each. One I even got for 80p and the seller must have made a huge loss as it cost £3+ to post. I also bought another one RRP only £12.99 and with most sellers selling at £8-£10, and I found a copy at £2 which I bought. However within a few minutes I got an email from Amazon saying the book had been withdrawn from sale and was no longer on my order..I've never come across that before.

I prefer to sell on ebay as I get much better prices, but Amazon is so very useful to keep stuff listed and just wait for that one buyer to come along. I love getting the 'sold despatch now' emails as well :jI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
