Hello
I keep getting a popup on my ZoneAlarm (my 3 months of McAfee from dell have now expired :wall: ) to say that "Service Executable" wants to access the internet but as I have never heard or come across this program before I click deny.
Does anyone know what this is or is there a way I can find out? If it's legitimate then I can add it to the safe list...
Cheers

If you start the ZoneAlarm Console and look at the Alerts and Logs tab, you may be able to find evidence of this in the Program Alert type (the free ZoneAlarm and the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite differ somewhat). Alternatively, try looking through the programs in the Programs tab...
In both instances, you should be given further details either by clicking on it or in a box lower-down.

ZoneAlarm should also tell you what application is associated with that event in the popup. What does it say the application is?SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0

I've had something similar (moneyfacts, moneysupermarket or similar..?) always click deny - probably just trying to load an advert.0

It turned out to be Windows Defender
:rotfl: So why didn't they call the update program by the same name

Thats a good point, they are supposed to be doing something in Vista to address the problem of useless error messages.
I've just realised that what I've just said doesn't have anything to do with your ZoneAlarm report... Oh well.. More coffee required then!
Glad you sussed it out.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0
