Faulty goods/consequential damage?

Hi all, any lawyers out there? I bought a small pump via ebay to inflate my car tyres. After a few goes it blew a fuse. I thought this was a one off and replaced the fuse. It has happened again though this time whilst the cig lighter is not providing any power the fuse is OK. My garage say they will have to trace the wiring to see where it blew and that sounds expensive. So, is the retailer obliged to pay for the consequential damage caused by the faulty product, or just to replace the faulty item itself? Any help greatly appreciated.

That sounds more like you put a larger fuse in and the second time the wiring burnt before the fuse blew.
If wiring is getting damaged before a fuse blows then that indicates that the fuse fitted is too large for the wiring that it is designed to protect. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
have you contacted the seller ? just be aware if you allow him/her to refund the item you will be unlikely to claim compensation for any damage .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
