Just tried to search for updates in Spybot search and destroy, but it came up
'socket error #11004'
I can't seem to download the updates at the moment, but it will still do a search.
Anyone any ideas how to fix this ?

On the updates page try selecting a different server. "Safer Networking #1 (Europe)" always seems to work for me.
I used to get errors often when updtaing but never now that I've made "Safer Networking #1 (Europe)" the default server
Hope this helps0 -
Maybe there's a problem with their server at the moment? I've just tried the same thing and although I was allowed to connect and it said that updates were available (dated 22/09), I get a 'bad checksum' error when I try to download them. Might just be a question of trying again later - hope so!alison74 wrote:Just tried to search for updates in Spybot search and destroy, but it came up

ETA: Thanks jghal - I didn't realise you could change the server

I have had bad checksum in the past aswell.
Looking at it now, it won't even let me select a server - it won't let me pull down the choices.
Any ideas on that problem ??****************************0 -
Click Search for Updates and it will download a list of servers, which you can then select.alison74 wrote:Looking at it now, it won't even let me select a server - it won't let me pull down the choices.0 -
But when I search for updates, it gives me the problem at #1 in this post !
it's a catch 22****************************0 -
Ah Ok! Do you have a firewall? Try removing Spybot from its rules/exceptions list and click Search for Updates in Spybot again. Your firewall should alert that Spybot is trying to access the internet - click to allow it and all should be working again.0
