I would bin the lot - a week is a bit too long for most things and the meat/chicken would only have been ok-ish up to 12hrs after it got turned off.

Better safe - if costly - than suffering over the weekend.

Do you have freezer cover on your insurance, to cover "accidental loss of power"?? If so, keep a list of what you had, even 1/2 packs, as they may well want a list to be priced up for the value lost. When it happened to me, i was sent Iceland vouchers!

I too would bin the lot. A week is far too long for almost all of it, and stuff like bread and pizza bases will be way past their best. Not to mention the fact that unless very well wrapped they'll have picked up any of the nasties that have started growing in your meat.

Check your household insurance as suggested - you may be able to claim. Maybe.

I would too bin the lot - not worth the risk - you mentioned ice cream as well and I know that should NEVER be re-frozen...

  • Ditto - bin the lot. you'll have had bacteria growing in there for about 6 1/2 days. And disinfect the freezer before you turn it on and fill it up again.
