Im at the throwing out the window stage today. Ive had so many probs lately - anyway, latest is, I have a bubble telling me I have a full recovery OS D disk. I dont really understand this but I think somehow this recovery disk is recording duplicates of all my files all the time rather than just adding on new ones.

But anyway having decided I dont know how to do anything to that disk, I put on my WD passport so that I can back everything up, just in case something goes boobs up.

But when I click on my WD Smartware icon I get the message WDDM service not running.

Ive googled til my fingers are sore to find a solution and one that I understand and feel competent about. Is there any kind soul who can help please?

    Possible solutions

As to the D: partition.... double click on it and take a look at what is in there.

Many thanks donnie, have sorted the WDDM thing now - well its not appearing and WD Smartware came up and backed up files.:)

The D partition, Im sure Ive managed to c*** it up as there is no way it should be full. Ill have a go at seeing what is in it ..........................

Right (bearing in mind Im a dummy) It appeared to have two full sets of all my files, one dated yesterday. Ive deleted that one leaving still a full set of my files, which seems to include all docs, etc. :( Shouldnt it just have the Operating system files on there?

A bit more investigating and I find 5 sets of back up files all dated the same day back in July 2009 :( Have deleted 4 of those. I bet all you techis will tell me Ive done the wrong thing now.

Cor, I just found Dell Factory image restore. All these things I dont know are on here. Well that may be handy if things get worse. :)

Not sure as to why Backups are going to your D: drive if you say that you are using an external drive for Backup.

Just found something on there saying I can shrink the size of volume on it. Ill click on that...... Well, its now reduced the volume by about a third. But of course there is still the problem of why it was getting so big.

Many thanks everyone for your input, it does help so much. x
