I'm very sad - I keep a list of the contents of my freezer in a table in a Word document. Then I can sort the table by .... date, contents, portion size etc.
When I use something, I delete it from the table. When I add something, I add it to the table.
Also, every single thing is labelled. The rule here is ... if you don't label something, then you have to create something from the unknown contents. Too many times have I taken out tomato sauce to make a pasta, only to find it's raspberry puree!!
Is that a bit too anal even for OS?
I too don't use a "eat by" date for frozen foods. If it's a bit old, I just add more seasoning to perk up the flavourWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
I cut up old envelopes, punch holes in one end and attach to food with garden twisty ties (easier to reuse than cheap food ones I find). Everything gets labelled with what it is, the date it was made and who its for as I've started 'selling' things I've made in bulk to my Mum and Sister (for cost before you all think I'm really mean lol!).:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0

Currently I'm using up the stuff in the freezer so I can clean it out and start again in a much more organised fashion. :j Last night I had fish pie of indeterminate date and tonight I think I have garlic bread and apple pie!;)
There is some carrot and coriander soup and something that I think is chicken stock. :rotfl: Shamefully there are also some mince pies from last Christmas:o Do you think they will still be OK?:j Every day in every way, learning to money save:j0 -
I know when all my food in my freezer is from - Its all been bought since August 26th since my fridgefreezer thermostate went while we were away and defrosted it..we lost EVERYTHING so I know the lamb, chicken, bacon etc is about a month old :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
