Mondeo alarm keeps going off

I have owned my Mondeo (2000 Verona), for about six years, and done over 80K miles in it. Until recently, I did not know it even had an alarm. Then, a week ago, we could hear an alarm going outside, we thought it was someone else's car. However, a knock at the door, and I am scurrying out to unlock and then lock the car. This has happened half a dozen times since, and although the alarm is not very loud, the hazards keep going until I unlock and lock the car.
Are there any quick fixes for this?

Thanks,

Andy

My money would be on faulty ultrasonic sensors, have you tried turning them off before you lock the car?
There's normally a button to turn them off when you want to leave windows open, but still want to set the alarm.

Could be the cars main battery voltage dropping too low, causing the alarm to think it's being tampered with.....
Could also be the backup battery inside the alarm unit itself....
    Could be a dodgy/corroded door switch/connector.....

Thanks Strider, quite a lot to think about. I know this is hard to believe, but I have never changed the original battery (and it was an auction car!), so it could be that finally giving up. I don't know where the ultra sonic sensors are, so will look in the handbook.

On my old mondeo the alarm had its own horn, so it was easy to disconnect it.

Bonnet switch is the main reason. Disconnect it, But not the crash sensor which is near it.

LOL, when you said you didnt even know you had the alarm - we bought a brand new VW last year in the scrappage scheme. We were going on hols so we kept ringing asking when it would be delivered. Basically, I think they kindly swopped over a car that another customer had ordered so we could get ours that week for our hols. We hadnt ordered an alarm system as it was another £300 or something and we thought the immobiliser would be good enough. Fast forward 3 months and OH leaves the dogs in the car (we move the seats forward so they have a big boot area) whilst he goes in to pay for diesel. He is queueing up hearing this car alarm going off like the clappers, everyone looking around at each other and he smug in the knowledge it cant be his car, lol, when in comes someone and says the car with the two dogs has the alarm going off. PMSL, we had no idea it had an alarm and the dogs moving about in the locked car had set off the interior sensors.
