Aviva car insurance dispute

Hi Everyone,
In June this year I cancelled a policy with Aviva for my old car, at the time of the cancellation I was told by the Aviva representative that a partial refund was due for my policy and that I would receive £43.35.
Several days later in early July I did receive that refund along with a letter from Aviva stating that my policy had been cancelled and a refund issued. That was as far as I was concerned the end of the matter.
A month later I receive a final demand from Aviva stating that I owed, £66 and that if not paid immediately recovery action would follow. So I got on the phone to them immediately to dispute the letter as I had been issued a refund and as far as I was concerned did not owe anything. After all why would they issue a refund if I still owed them money.
They said they would investigate the matter and get back to me, they never did so thought nothing of it. Fast forward another month to yesterday morning and I get a letter from Wescot demanding payment.
Any idea's on how I can go about getting this resolved as there has clearly been a mistake somewhere along the lines.

If they have made a mistake, and you do owe them the money, then they are entitled to it.
Ask them for a full itemisation of the disputed amount. (Forget about mentioniong the refund they already sent you at this stage - that might have been a mistake too!)0 -
If you have a letter from Aviva stating the policy was cancelled, and at the time they owed you a refund, which they paid, they would be hard pushed trying to claim further premium from you now. Particuarly if it has been queried since, and they took no further action.
No doubt they'll continue to send letters stating one thing, while stating the opposite on the phone though.0
