Barclays or HSBC

I haven't paid in money to my HSBC CA for about 6 months and I haven't had a charge. I do however still have my regularly used credit card with them and I bank with First Direct so that might be holding them off... who knows.
They don't charge, they just downgrade your account to a basic account.0 -
HSBC are good, been with them 27 years, no problems.0

No, you don't. HSBC's standard accounts are fee-free with no funding requirements.

Thanks for the help, I'll probably go with Barclays for my working account and use HSBC as my day-to-day account.
Also on the site it says that the £500 deposit is not a condition for under 24's.
