What do you reccommend?

We are thinking of getting a new telly. What would you recommend?

A rear projection?

An LCD?

Or a plasma?

Can anyone tell me in as few words as possible what the differences are between these types of T.V.?

TIA
Inside me there is a thin women screaming to get out.................so I shut the !!!!!! up with a biscuit.:D

do a search on home cinema, they do reviews on the subject your interested in, or pop around to your local whsmith and pick up a copy
they tend to give the plus and minus of each product you have described

    Very quickly:
Rear Projection: Look a bit like a 'normal' telly, can be quite big in size (both in picture size and overall). Tend to have a darker picture.

Plasma & LCD: Technically different in the way they display a picture but for the average bloke on the street they are pretty much the same.
There used to be reasons to buy a plasma over an LCD, like cheaper cost on bigger screen sizes but LCDs have dropped in price and have caught up.

In my opinion stay away from rear projection they are too big (unless you want a massive screen >42")

Get a Plasma or LCD. Go into a Currys, John Lewis etc and see which one you like the look of and like the picture quality. Don't worry too much if its Plasma or LCD.

Make sure its a HD (High Definition) telly as it will make it more future proof.

Also consider ones with a built in FreeView tuner if you want to watch Free Digital Telly. Saves having extra remote controls and FreeView boxes.

Oh yes, nearly forgot. If you want to connect your telly to a DVD player/recorder, Freeview box, VCR, Sky Box, Games console you will need to have enough connectors (generally Scart sockets are used). Count how many boxes you need to connect and then try and find a telly with enough Scart/connectors.
