We've got i-pod touch's, in order to put a dvd on it we have to use software to convert it into the right format to transfer onto the ipod.

The best one I have found is 'DVD Fab' which you can download for a free 30 day trial.

    http://www.dvdfab.com/?gclid=CM60nb3S6qMCFQIB4wodyAla3A

Click on the download button under the video converter option.

Use the dvd to mobile option. I have found it very simple to use.

You put the disc in your computer set it going at the end of the conversion process it will send it to itunes ready to transfer to the ipod.

When the free trial runs out remove the software from your computer and start again with the next free trial.

If you do a google search there are lots of other ways to do it but DVD Fab is the one I have had most sucess with.

    Hope that helps

Dvd Fab do a file converter version for files already on the PC rather than disc, have a look at their website.

Should be easier as it means you don't need to bother ripping the dvd if the file is already on you pc

You can use Handbrake to convert them. It has a preset for Ipods. But do you really want to watch movies on such a small screen?

  • thanks for all your help,
im in the process of converting a few movies,
as for watching them on such a small screen does not bother me really,i was just wanting to try it out on my new ipod touch.
  • You need MP4 format on the iTouch. In iTunes, File/Add a File select movie location and iTunes adds it to your library.

Why not also try BBC iPlayer, A lot of the beeb output is now there, shows, some movies, radio broadcasts...

Try Podcasts as well, plenty of hints, tips, shows, tutorials and more available.
  • Another vote for Handbrake here! I use it all the time to put films I own on DVD onto my ipod. It's free and works brilliantly. It's great to have films and TV episodes for journeys!
