It is stated on their website. I imagine there is a 24 hour automated service, and some functions such as lost and stolen will remoain open.

On another note, it is an 0845 number, which is local rate, so I'm unsure how Barclays make any money, given that OFCOM banned revenue sharing in 2008?

Plus 0845 are free at various times of the day/week with BT, depending on which tariff you have.

What a ridiculous complaint. Putting aside the obvious point of the OP 'not realising it was 2am', are they seriously expecting Barclays to think of every possible idiotic mistake that a punter can make. The OP calls at 2am, wonders why noone is answering (despite their advertised hours being on their websites) and then speculates that this is an excuse to make **** loads of money, despite the number not costing anyone anything to call, particularly if it's no answered.

If the OP wants to be angry with anyone, perhaps they should look at themselves for being a prize plonker?

    1. It costs people with inclusive money to call.

    2. If you actually read it properly you'll see the call is answered and then after a menu select it just rings out - still chargeable.

    3. I have never heard of a major company letting their phones ring with no-one to answer when they are closed. They always tell you they are closed and hang up.

Yes I agree with you, its a minor point. But then they don't seem especially angry do they - they are just making a point.

And I got a call from my credit card company on a Sunday while I wouldn't have thought they would be open, so they don't all keep rubbish opening hours.

This. The point wasn't that I called at 2AM. I could have called at 11:01PM... Same story. The fact of the matter is, EVERY company I have called in the years I've been active with these type of things, would tell you that their offices are closed and that you should ring back between X and X. Then the phone would hang up.

And telling people that they should check online for opening hours before they call a company is just plain stupid. What company have you called, outside of office hours, that haven't told you their offices are closed? Let me answer that for you... None.
