Good Broker/Company needed tomorrow for MotorTrade Combined w modified & motorhome

Hi all,
Struggling to find a good broker, I'm looking to move from home/mobile to renting unit space and looking at the following features I will likely need. I'm an established small business potentially taking on employee with bread and butter of service/repair to family cars. I'll need:
PL/EL/Workmanship Indemnity/Product Liability
Drive Motorcycles
Drive/own Motorhome (but I'm not a motorhome business)
<20% of business car modifications, ability to own modified cars (but nothing high performance no Porsche no Subaru)
SDP cover including spouse
If possible SDP cover any vehicle I'm driving 3rd party (non-owned vehicle road risk cover)
Motor Trade comp cover
Vehicle in workshop, accidental damage from my work/damage while stored
I'm in 30's, full no claims, been a good boy etc.
If anyone can recomend someone or message me I'd appreciate it.
Emails to greg AT gregandsarah.co.uk please or post here. So far I have had a lot of trouble with varying insurers either saying no to own modified vehicle or motorhome, restricting own vehicles to 3, restricting SDP driving of any vehicle owned by a family member or such like.
Appreciated as my policy is just up for renewal!

You could try a broker who deals with Chartis formerly AIG as I have seen garages they have covered who had Motorhomes and Bikes for the owners.
Alternatively you could try a broker with a Chaucer MT agency, however they are not great on claims, they will check everything, if you have not declared a car to the MID that you should have they will not pay the claim, they will also check against databases for claims and convictions the week after you take out cover so declare everything
It's worth looking at Insuring the motorhome separately as it is often cheaper and if you cover it on a MT policy you only get the "Trade" price if you write it off.
A MT policy will not cover you to drive ANY vehicle for SDP cover eg your friends cars as you fancy driving their car, it will however cover (If you have selected SDP cover) SDP use of cars that are in your custody or control for MT purposes.0 -
Thanks for that. I don't really want to be buying 3 policies, a cheap car policy which gives me driving other vehicles SDP road risk (incedentally I had this on my first MT policy, it covered me to drive any vehicle any reason EXCLUDING close relatives!) and a motorhome policy. I would like to deal with someone who can put together a policy with the inclusions I need, but maybe that isn't possible. I'm not worried about the motorhome being trade value, that's how I bought it but I have seen 2 policies that pay out the retail value for own vehicles and for MT stock.
Basically everything I want I have seen, but not in one policy.
Thanks - any more ideas welcome meanwhile I'll chase up Chartis. BTW I have nothing to hide & no convictions etc, but I don't want to support a company looking for a way to never pay, I don't fancy my cover levels if I made a mistake or there was something I wasn't aware of that caused a problem.

You could try "Tradex" - 0845 330 3333
What you've described is a standard Motor Trade Combined policy BUT you've restricted your available markets by
1. The fact that you are a effectively a "new venture"
2. The requirement to drive "modified" vehicles (be they prestige/high performance marques or not)
3. Wishing to incorporate the Motorhome
Tradex should be able to accomodate all of these but be careful.... they don't have a good reputation for aftersales customer service or claims.
As mentioned by previous poster insuring the Motorhome seperately would probably open up more markets for you. Essentially a Motor Trade policy exists to protect your business. A Motorhome would generally be viewed as a pure "pleasure" vehicle and nothing to do with your business requirements.
Try googling "Motor Trade Combined Insurance" and you'll get rafts of results from specialist brokers offering their services. Don't try and buy online. The product is generally too complex to make any online indication accurate. Speak to a professional who understands exactly what you're looking for0 -
Good shout with Tradex. I think you can go direct to them or via a broker, such as Clegg Gifford or Giles.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Bad shout re Tradex, they are arguably the worst Insurer for claims, cover and customer service, but hey they are cheap and cover the more unusual risks0

Tradex don't deal with full motor trade quotes, they won't quote me for working from a premisis only for working from home. I used to be with them once and got told they avoid paying out like the plague.
I'm not a new venture, I have been trading/insured motor trade 3years.
I have a motorhome and fit some modified parts, I appreciate it may restrict me but it seems crazy for me to have 2 or 3 additional policies when I'm going to be paying a 4 figure sum for insurance.
All motor trade policies I have seen including my last 3 cover a SDP pleasure/commuting fleet. On my last policy, I could have 8 15k mercs, no problem. I find it silly if I can do that but can't have the same uprated shock absorbers on my family diesel as I would fit to a customers because I'm then driving a modified car.
Anyhow enough moaning, I'm waiting on quotes to come back (one from a company that insures vehicles for motor sport use, exclusively modified) so fingers crossed. Any other bright ideas please post!

By the way where did all the brokers go on this forum? People used to post up with contact info and be logged as brokers.

I have dealt with motortraders who handle modifications and motorbikes (and motorhomes with ChartisAIG) with the companies I mentioned earlier , give them a ring and ask them to recommend a broker to you.
If you chose Chaucer make sure you read all the paperwork and abide by all of the requirements / exclusions as they are fussy on claims and will use any breaches to not pay a claim.
As I mentioned before please remember that a motortrade policy will normally not cover you to drive cars that are your friends etc for sdp use if they are not in your custody or control for motortrade purposes. A lot of people fall foul of this as they think they can drive any vehicle under any circumstances0
