    yes, thankfully.

We're a semi rural school so about 90% of our kids are bused in. Some of the buses turned around half way as they couldn't get through.

I had to drive down a 10% gradient hill which was like a sheet of glass because of ice. One of the scariest drives of my life. A bus got stuck and blocked a lane of traffic (wasn't necessarily a bad thing, why people were trying to get UP the hill in those conditions I'll never know  )

Police closed the road off not long after I managed to get off it. Despite the weather (snow continued to fall on and off all day) school stayed open. Council had managed to clear the main roads by home time and majorly ramped up gritting and ploughing of all major roads since.

That's because you live in Wales you see. Now, if you move to Scotland, it's a guaranteed snow free climate. NOT that I'm annoyed about my minimal wearing of snow boots or anything...

Here's hoping you're working on Gally's cost per toe basis rather than a cost per wear basis then!

yep. We have a week of heavy rain forecast. I'm grateful for living on a hill, as low lying local areas have already flooded from the melting snow (as land already saturated from recent rain).

On chirpier news, had quite a moneysaving weekend. Went into Cardiff yesterday. Parked outside the city and walked in to avoid paying for parking. Used a groupon that was about to expire. £7 for two HUGE crepes and two hot drinks at a local pancake house  Then mooch around the museum (free :D). Flashed my student discount card (which has no expiry date ;) and as I'm doing a course through school which I can cash in for masters credits I don't feel guilty about it. This got me 10% discount in Rymans when I bought more hanging files for the filing cabinet. Office is slowly taking shape. Called in for coffee with the outlaws on the way home and ended up being force fed curry and lemon torte :D

Was then super disciplined and marked some y9 assessments. Written some reports this morning and done some filing. Feeling much more productive than usual :) (long may it last, I have TONNES to do :D )

Hoping to catch stock of bargain sausages at Lidl later on to feed the freezer. Going to do a small shop to get us to pay day (28th). Hoping for a £5 off £35 spend in Aldi in Thursday's Mirror to restock for February.

I hope the local area doesn't get too flooded. I should be doing some school work but unlike you I'm procrastinating like crazy at the moment.

    January Goals Round up
    1) 16 No spend Days
ACHIEVED. I know I exceeded this, but don't know by how many.

    2) January Grocery Challenge with a budget of £160 for the month.
ACHIEVED. For the first time ever, kept track of the whole month so know exactly what was spent AND came in under budget :j

    3) 19 working days in January = 19 packed lunches.
ALMOST! Managed 18 out of 19. Need to stock up on 'grab and go' lunches to avoid being caught short again.

    4) No clothing purchases (wardrobes full to bursting).
    ACHIEVED

    5) Drink a litre of water a day
MAKING PROGRESS. Managed some days, but not consistently. Did drink more than usual, so a step in the right direction.

    6) Maintain progress with Swagbucks. Continue to earn at least 30 SB/day.
ACHIEVED. Maintained progress and managed to cash out another £5 at the end of the month. Christmas fund building nicely.

    7) Seize our finances by the danglies.
MAKING PROGRESS. A lot achieved here, and a lot still to do.

    8) Diary post at least once a week and 1 end of month review post.
    ACHIEVED

    Quarterly Goals (Jan - March)
    NEED MORE FOCUSED ATTENTION

    Long term goals

    1) MFW 2013 with an OP target of £2000 for 2013.

MAKING PROGRESS! OPs currently stand at £448, or 22% of target.

It has been a funny old week to round off the month. Work has been manic as ever. Had an argument with a concealed pot hole and lost, resulting in a £200+ bill to fix the car (yes, I'm fighting the council for their contribution towards this).

Hard to believe we're in February already. Need to come up with some goals for the month and catch up with MFW diaries.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.
