Barclaycard ....unfair refund!!!

I have agreed with Barclaycard that £700 is owing due to the mis selling of payment protection. However I am on a repayment plan which I am following but they refuse to refund me instead paying the amount off the outstanding balance. The problem being I have more pressing debts that I intended to use the £700 to bring up to date. I resisted this in writing with Barclaycard, they are claiming that this decision is in line with ombudsman guidelines and the decision is final.... Anyone come across this?? ... is it worth resisting again??

Hi and welcome.
I understand if there is outstanding debt/arrears this is the way they work, but some will ask if they could discreetly refund the amount directly to them within good reason.
Was there any interest owing to you within that amount?
I assumed the interest side of it would be refunded directly to you, but maybe this varies from one bank to another.
Good luck with this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

As Di says , this is the way that they work where there is arrears or outstanding balances on accounts. teh recent FSA policy statement also agrees with this.
Count yourself lucky that you didn't use a claims company for this - they would still want their cut of the £700 even though you never actually got it!We've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.0
