vendor has extended drive to the roadside, crossing the boundary

just a quickie. a house we are buying I noticed on the plans has a bounday i would say 50cm short of the road. next door has a retaining wall round their garden and have left this small patch next to the road. in theory the driveway on the house we are buying has been taken right to the road edge, breaching the boundary. is this something that will come back to haunt?

I don't quite understand - is there a pavement between the front garden and the road, or maybe is it a road without a defined edge, so there is a thin strip of dirt between the road and your front garden?
If there is a strip running along the road in front of the house and it is not clear who it belongs to, I would get your solicitor to look into it sooner rather than later. We had terrible trouble with one house because between the pavement and the private drive, there was a piece of land which had not been adopted by the council and didn't belong to any of the houses off the drive, so legally it still belonged to the developer and it wasn't clear we had right of way over it.
That probably doesn't apply in your case, but if there is an issue better to find out now so you have time to sort it out.0
