Depends on the size of the cracks & what sort of surface it is. You can get different sorts of Polyfilla, or Wilko filler which you just push in along the crack, smooth off with the filler blade &, if necessary sand down afterwards. You can also get flexible filler if the cracks keep reappearing - wooden floors above & suchlike.
If it's lots of fine cracks then you can use proper ceiling paint from B&Q etc. - this is thicker than normal paint & does a good job of filling in even quite large cracks.
If there are cracks around the edge of the ceiling then a line of flexible mastic works well.0 -
The best way to deal with cracks is to open them up wider using a scraper or knife, make the crack about half inch to an inch wider, then sand the crack.
Get some filler, I prefer tetrion, but they dont have it in the DIY stores, knock up some filler and go over the cracks, then scrape off as you go along any excess filler.
You will probably have to fill again, as the first lot will sink in to the crack, sand down gently, and refill, and again sand down.
Place your fingers across the crack, (no pun intended ) lol, if you still feel a indent, then fill again, again sand down.
Heres a little extra tip for you....., after you have done the filling and rubbing down, get some diluted unibond/PVA and brush that on the filled cracks a couple of times, when dry, repaint.
The PVA will form a hard shell like protection, and will help to prevent the crack from appearing or opening up again.
hope this helps.:D0 -
If all else fails you could think of papering it.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

We had similar problems with cracks when we had our artex ceilings re-scimmed and then started to see fine hairline cracks all over. We found a product called Interior-Flex from promain.co.uk and has covered the cracks perfectly without any need to fill those cracks that would have taken us forever. i'm sure this will help.0
