e-on Tariff expired

Their cheapest tariff is normally an online one and at the moments it's Save Online 3. If you've already got an online account you can compare tariffs yourself. Or even better why not have a look on one of the switching sites?0

I've got an Eon fixed rate that is ending in a couple of months time - this is the first fix I've used so not experienced what happens at the end before! Assuming I decide to stick with Eon then how do I avoid being moved to (or minimize length of time on) the default tariff you switch to if you do nothing?
Thanks for any info0 -
Hi I received a letter this morning advising my Winter gas only tariff expired this week and they have put us on E ON energy plan which means they have taken the 5.5% discount away, can anyone advise of any other E on tariffs which would be cheaper
Hi redmalc
As you say, our Winter Gas tariff expired on 1 September 2010.
Unless you contact us to discuss other options, you will automatically have been placed on our standard tariff, the Energy Plan.
There are certainly other tariffs available with various terms and conditions which may or may not be of interest. These can be seen on our website or you can call in and talk over the options with one of our agents.
However, for a much fuller picture, I would do as stewie_griffin says and pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites. This will list out all the products available, both with us and the other suppliers.
Just a quick heads up; we don't give discount on the final bill when changing supplier. Therefore, you might want to look at timing a move away to lessen the impact of this.
This loss of discount will not, however, apply to your Winter Gas tariff even if part of this falls within a final bill. This is because you have completed the full term of the contract and, as such, are eligible for the full discount.
Hope this helps redmalc. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to advise.

Hi deshepherd
We’ll write to you before your current deal expires to advise the expiry date and the need to look at alternative tariffs.
As I posted above, if we don’t hear from you, your account will automatically be placed on to one of our standard products. The actual one will depend on your current tariff.
We attempt to put customers on a product, if available, closest to the terms of their existing arrangement but without any restrictions. This allows customers to change supplier without any difficulty if they wish.
For instance, online customers go on our standard online tariff; whilst some other customers will be put on the Energy Plan as above.
Details of all the tariffs currently available are on our website. Alternatively, you can call in and discuss your options with an agent.
As I advised redmalc, for a much more comprehensive picture, pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites. See what deal is best for you. Just be aware of the no discount on final bills I mentioned above.
Hope this helps deshepherd. Give me a shout if I can advise further as will be happy to do so.
