    That's outrageous :-o

At least you and your bump are OK :-\

If it were me, I'd get down to the company ASAP, look for the lorry and get pics and make a fuss at reception. 7 months pregnant, with your crime report and beat up car outside, and demand to see a director, not someone from logistics.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Fifer, I was reading this and was just about to tell you that! There has to be a substantial risk of seriuos prejudice, too, and if you don;t name the driver then that isn;t fulfilled, so the paper could publish it.

But it's not an interesting story really, so I doubt they would.

Also make sure you keep a record of any trips to hospital/chemist to get some help with the injuries etc. This will help show that you were injured due to the accident, and was diagnosed/treated by professional people

Also any recepits too .. you should be able to get back any costs you incurred from their insurance which is related to that accident... when you eventually win :D

I thought this too and anyway it would be slander if i can't prove it.
  • Thought I would mention the manager has just called me and gave me the insurance compant details and the drivers name.

Does this means he is admitiing liability, as far as I can gather he says he has not had a chance to speak to the driver yet, so now i'm worried that they will still deny it.

I think he must have spoken to him, I would have by now if it was one of my staff it happened on Friday at 3.25, he probably dropped off the van on friday and picked it up monday, even if not he has a mobile i'm sure.

The SHOULD rather than DO investigate.... as I said in my post, being realistic a failing to stop at an RTA isnt the highest priority for the police and they will frequently try and fobb you off saying it is a civil matter etc

The police however should really need to be involved for the purposes of getting your vehicle fixed/ you back on the road and anyone with access to the MID database (which the police and insurers both have) will be able to get the insurance details which is all you really need.

Its still infuriating though, I know they are busy, but how come they are never too busy to stop and check your tyres or just bother you on your way to work sometimes.

Dont disagree at all, many a time did a policyholder give a rant about how long it took them to argue for the police to take an interest in a road accident even when there were obvious criminal offences being committed (eg driving without insurance, failing to stop, failing to exchange etc) but I guess it all comes down to work loads and targets.

The fact that he has given details just means that they have complied with the legal requirement to do so and is in no way (unfortunately) an admission to either involvement nor liability.

Just to warn you, in case you havent guessed, claims involving commercial vehicles take longer than those with just private vehicles (especially in the early stages) because for a company it simply isnt the priority that it is for you and me.

  • Just had my damage valued and have been told it is a write off.

Does anyone know where I would find the book price of my car please.

There are lots of websites that will give you the value...

https://www.parkers.co.uk do a basic free or a small charge for a more comprehensive valuation

https://www.glass.co.uk is the industry standard basically and again charge a small fee

What you are looking for on both of them is the private sale value for the vehicle and not the trade/ forecourt price
