Wagon Finance PPI - how ???

Wagon Finance sold me PPI with my last loan from them for a motorbike. Wagon Finance has been brought out by First National, who then got brought out by Abbey National, who then - well you get the idea.

I have been in touch with Santander, GE Money etc, to try and track down who now owns the information, and to find out who I might be able to claim the PPI from. Of course no-one knows.

Does anyone on this forum know where I can go from here, or do I give up as a lost cause.

    Hi and welcome

I would in your case ring the financial ombudsman service (FOS) explain your predicament, not knowing who etc, and of the running around your having to do, they may check this out for you, and you can also ask if they could write to them on your behalf if you want to, this way you should not get messed about so much.

Good luck with this, please let us know how you get on.;)

  • Hi I was wondering if anyone had any luck in tracking down 'Wagon Finance'? If Santander has taken them over would they still be required to payout mis-sold PPI, if the original agreement was with the Wagon Finance company?

    Any help much appreciated, thanks!

If Santander took the business then they are liable for the mis sells.
  • I tried to claim against Wagon Finance, through Santander, having followed the previous trails. I am now claiming against Pinnacle Insurance, (Pinnacle House, Stangate Cresent, Borehamwood, Herts, WD6 2XX) the underwriters of the PPI policy (to Wagon finance) with the help of the Financial Ombudsman Service.;)
  • Hello,
Aproxmetly 15 years ago I had a loan through Wagon Finance LTD for the purchase of a motorcycle, and had PPi with it.
I have been informed that I can try to claim back my PPI as I have had a chronic health condition which I told them about when I took out the PPI.
I am trying to find out who now are responsible of Wagon Finance LTD, as I believe they have been bought out by other companys in the past.
    Many thanks,
    Tunasimon

15 years ago Wagon Finance weren't regulated, so even if Sanatander are responsible now for it, they can dismiss your complaint.

What you can do is complain to them, and when/if they reject your complaint, complain to the insurers and see what happens.

  • Had a motorcycle taken out on finance in 1999 with Wagon Finance and no joy claiming with Santander. Is it best to claim against Pinnacle the underwriters or send the standard PPi form on the ombudsman site to them?? Successes to date £7700 Lloyds Bank Plc £449 Canada Square (Egg Bank Plc). Difficulties MBNA keep sending me letters requiring more info and sent to them. Still yet to hear from them... anybody else know what they are up to by delaying..

Did the motorbike dealer sell it to you? If so, they carry the liability for the sale. However, most dealers were not regulated prior to Jan 2005. So, they can reject it as pre-regulation.
