I saw a substantial increase that made me laugh this week.

House bought new, still building going on around it - and it's on the market, 2nd hand .... at MORE than the developers are flogging the new ones for. They increased it by £30k right before the bank holiday. Loons.

What is funny is that the cheapest 3 bedroom rental property within a mile of Daniel Street is £550 pcm. So, lets see, a £90k interest only mortgage at 5% = £4.5k divided by 12 = £375. Either rent it for 25 years with increasing rent or buy it and live in it and, who knows, it might go up in price whilst your mortgage stays about the same. (Disclaimer - house prices can go up as well as down, its just pretty unlikely over the long term).

You'd do pretty well to get a £90k interest only mortgage with no deposit at 5%.

Put a deposit down though and the monthly mortgage drops even more so it looks like a decent buy-to-let based on those rental figures (i've not checked them myself).

The house if £99k so I was putting a £9k deposit down.

Why don't they just market it as: "A house in Barry very similar to the one on Gavin & Stacey" and then put it back on the market at £119,000. Some plonker will buy it.
