Where is the cheapest place to get some new keys cut? I have lost the SPARE spare pair :(

Thanks

I hate to bump such an old thread, but my local Timpson's is charging over £5 for a simple front door key, you know, the single cylinder Yale type thing. I can't believe that the blanks cost more than 10p each and it doesn't take a minute to make a copy - is there anywhere cheaper to get a copy made?

My local cobbler charges £1.50 for a Yale and that is in London.
  • Similar I paid £2 at a local independent cobbler last year.

Our local guy does trophies and key cutting at a reasonable price (if you're having trouble finding a local(ly owned) cobbler who offers the service.

I used to use a local garage door fit/supply company who had a machine in their lobby - we had a workshop next to theirs and therefor our key got cut free, I'd imagine they'd have been reasonable if you had come off the street.

Don't go near Timpsons, their prices are extorionate.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Thanks for the advice - it seems like it IS possible to get a reasonably priced job then, that's good. To be fair, this Timpson's used to do small jobs for a £1 donation into their charity tin, but there's two staff in their now and things seem to have changed. I'll have a lookout for an indie cobbler! Cheers!

    Have you tried Asda?
Wheni went last weekend i noticed that they have a automatic key cutting machine. Not sure what the price was, but might be worth looking at?
