outlook express--receiving ntlworld emails cant send help

h guys overseas at moment but cant send emails..

this is error message

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

any help appreciated

    yes i am on ntl at home, and my email address is an ntlworld one... if you are asking is it hard wired at moment the answer is no i am using free wifi in a hotel overseas

    You can only send when connected to NTL Server use web mail to send http://www.virginmedia.com/customers/emailgateway.php
  • Yup I found this out as well, the hard way.

    What you *could* do, is set up a freebie e-mail address use their settings to send mail with a "reply to" address of your NTL World one.
    Signaller, author, father, carer.

    Obviously not. ;)

    @OP: There are two rules when chosing a personal email address
    1. DO NOT use the free email of your ISP

    and

    2. DO NOT use the free email of your ISP

    ;)

    You should always chose an email address from an independent provider. Otherwise you might run into such kind of problems you just described. NTL doesn't seem to allow using their SMTP server from outside their network. So you need to use the SMTP server of the ISP of the Internet connection you're using atm.

    Virgin Media have more than enough trouble with their various email servers being blacklisted without allowing them to be used as relays!

    You don't seem to know how email works ;) You don't need to have an open relay to accept emails from outside. Just google for SMTP AUTH...
