JSA running out?

Hi, hope someone can advise.

Was made redundant a few months ago, unable to find a job since.

I live with my partner who works 16 hours a week (£7500 per annum). We have 2 young children and our own house (mortgage £1200PM, of which interest is £230).

Currently I' m receiving JSA Cont's based, but have been told it is coming to an end. also informed that we will have to start paying some of our council tax.

We currently receive £135 in CTC and WTC per week, and all our council tax paid.

As much as I appreciate the help we are getting (albeit still struggling) I dont know how we will cope if I lose the JSA and the council tax benefit which equates to about £93 per week.

Is there another benefit we would get?

We now have no savings and relying on handouts from family.

Any advice on this please would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your partners' income is too high for IBJSA.

  • Thanks, that explains why it's coming to an end.

But is there another benefit that would replace this or is it a case that the WTC and CTC will increase albeit not as much?

Its worth applying as a "change of circumstances" but no, there is no replacement benefit.

If you get full council tax benefit with your JSA(C) income, then you'd get it without.

However, I suspect your current Council tax benefit award is incorrectly based on you being in receipt of JSA(IB)

So you're getting around £28 pw in council tax benefit?
I reckon you should be maybe only getting £8 per week (which would increase to around £21 pw when your JSA(C) expires. ).

It depends on how much the OP's partner gets from work and WTC.

You have to be on income based JSA or IS to get help.
