I have always believed them to be illegal as the date and signature go hand in hand.
Not sure what this means in practice, though.
Don't have a link, I'm afraid. Just what I believe.0 -

A post dated cheque can be presented to the bank at any time,if it bounces the cheque writer will be charged for a bouncing cheque regardless of the date on the cheque.
It is illegal to write and sign a cheque that does not have the funds on the day the cheque is signedPolitical?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
Watch out with post dated cheques. It's very possible for the date on the cheque to go through the whole clearing cycle unnoticed, so don't bank on money not leaving your account til after the date on the cheque.0
