what am I entitled to as a single parent

Hi I am a single parent who due to my health am in a situation where I have to drop my hours of work to 16 which is going to mean a huge reduction in my wages and potential earnings. I am unsure what I can claim and also wanted to know if I could use my spare time whilst working to retrain could I get any financial help with that aspect?

There are numerous assisted schemes and TBH you would be well advised to pop into your local Link, or JC plus to discuss options.

I do know of a Lady in a similar situation (it would appear) and she gets Working Tax credits, help with Housing benefit and council tax i believe, but i am sure someone will be along shortly with detailed advice.

Whether you get help with training depends on what level are you planning to study at?

You may get working tax credit, (including childcare element if you pay childcare) and like the poster said above, housing benefit and council tax benefit.
