Car insurance without a tie in period

Hi

We need to renew our car insurance but we are hopefully emigrating in Jan so don't want a years policy

Do any company do insurance that doesn't tie you in for 12 months?

Thanks
Give me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.

Other than short term cover - intended to cover people for a few days at a time, no. Insurance is sold as annual contracts because, well, it just is!

You are best to look for a policy with no cancellation charges, or just budget for any charges when taking out the policy. Try to find direct insurers rather than brokers as the fees tend to be higher in those cases and the cancellation a tiny bit more complex.
  • Your always able to cancel a policy mid term you just need to be aware of a couple of things :

1, you will be subject to cancellation charges so establish what they are up front
2, if you have to claim on your own insurance you will be liable for the full 12 months insurance so no refund would be available.
