Emergency travel to the US

I am visiting my Mum in America from 10 Sept to 24 Sept using the visa waiver programme/esta.
Now my Mum has found out she has cancer and we don't know how aggressive it is or if it is treatable. I know that if I leave the US, I cannot return within 3 months. Now I may need to return sooner. How do I get permission/clearance to do so.
I have been on the US Embassy website etc and cannot find anything regarding returning within the 3 month period
Any help or advice will be most appreciated

You know wrong.
There is no 3 month rule - the immigration official will make his decision when you arrive in the US on the second visit. As long as you meet the requirements (in particular in your case a return ticket) he has no reason to refuse you.0 -
There is no 3 month rule. I fly to the US regularly with work and have sometimes flown home and then back the following week.
Maybe youa re confusing it will the 90 day validity for a VWP entry. It is important not outstay this period. That can land you in big trouble.0
