The weekend is here along with bad weather so it seems we are stuck in most of the weekend. When you have the type of children that need to be outside this is not good! That said, somehow I slept until 8:40am today and although I still feel tired am grateful for a lie in. We had a late ish night as went to see a comedian locally but I drove and none of us had alcohol. Don't know what time we went t bed but we got home 10:30 then watched the apprentice so was late for us. Is it awful for me to hope after checking the forecast that tomorrows football match is postponed!
So much to do in the house today, lots of washing and will use heated area as much as possible but tumble dryer currently also in use. Need a bit of a tidy up and de-clutter as paperwork has taken over the breakfast bar yet again.
Have been in touch with plumber to finalise what we want for the bathroom and he should be able to to do it in a couple of weeks. I didn't realise how much I wanted a new bathroom until we set the ball rolling. Good news is the vanity unit we have chosen is about £400 cheaper which should offset the cost of the tiles. :j
Almost finished the 2nd HP book so will get on with that and see if the children want to watch it this weekend. Also spotted Mr S are doing their double up next month, we have almost £80 worth which will definitely help with the Christmas shopping.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
We watched the Apprentice last night. Am trying to think of a decent business plan because the candidates are horrifically bad. Could definitely scoop the prize. Hopefully Siobhan will go when the girls eventually lose!
Awesome news on the bathroom, will you have access to it during work or are you making alternative arrangements?0 -
I agree Michelle, no one is standing out as a potential winner yet! Fortunately we also have a downstairs shower room and wc so the upstairs bathroom doesn't get used a lot. I think bathroom is probably ahout 15+ years old as we have been here nearly 13 years. Really looking forward to it being done as we can also finish decorating and get house valued (only for curiosity purposes).
50p on y0ug0v this morning plus prize draw entry. DH won work bonus ball last night and we've had a very low spend weekend. Just need a small top up shop for packed lunches, got some rolls out of the freezer and will make a leek and potato soup for my lunches later. It continues to shock me that colleagues think nothing of spending £4 ish on luches each day. I'm so frugal on a day to day basis but will gladly book holidays and have home improvements (all budgeted for) so I guess we all have different priorities. 0% cc payments made and will pay water bill later. Will use cc and then transfer from bills account so will help with reducing amount of interest paid on t3sco balance which I am working hard on reducing!
Off to wrap up warm to go and watch dd play her football match. At least it's dry but it's pretty windy. Will try and get some steps in around the pitch!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Totally agree on the lunch spend Cath most of my colleagues buy lunch daily, I can't remember the last time I did, probably 2 years ago when I seriously upped my money saving game. But, I'm determined to get our extension and our time away together as a family is precious so we all have our priorities, I guess their's are just different!
Bathroom plans sounds fab!0 -
Where I work now is out of town so everyone tends to bring in as its a walk to nearest place, but when i worked in town people would spend £4-5 per day then every Friday they'd have a 'treat' in a sit down chain so £10-15. I once pointed out they spent more on lunches than i spend on a weekly shop for 4 but it didn't go down well :rotfl:0

Is Siobhan the one who looks like a drag queen?0

Yeah I guess she is!
Payday so have sent my expenses to the t3sco cc and also sent money for some tickets I've bought for an event in early December. It's something DH really wants to go to so I am going to tag along with the children. Hopefully it will be £45 well spent. 25p on y0ug0v and sent £600 to savings which has become the bathroom/holiday fund. Just waiting for updated price of suite and labour costs from plumber. I do think the new bathroom might impact our gas and water bills as I'm predicting lots of relaxing baths rather than showers!
Small top up shop of £18 today which should see us through to the weekend.
Off to bed for an earlyish night, am struggling with fatigue again as fell asleep about 6:30 last night for a poorly timed nap and am struggling to get out of bed when the alarm goes off. I'm actually looking forward to the clocks change so that the mornings are a little bit lighter!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
And breathe...... it's half term which actually only means a couple of extra days off but the thought is there!
Managing well with finances, have £3105 in bathroom account and projected spends are £2900 ish for all parts and labour which we are pleased with. Just waiting for a fitting date once tiler has been. We thought the living room radiator neede replacing but plumber said it can be repaired which is a bonus.
Plodding each day with the small things to save money. I've taken soup to work each day, only put the heating on a couple of times for 20-30 mins, have started switching ds lamp off when I go to bed as he is finally sleeping through so won't notice! Have line dried washing where possible and only used tumble dryer if desperate! Heated airer is good and dries quickly but can't fit much on it. We have some cheap/free activities planned with the children this week including pumpkin picking and a zoo trip (we have membership and will take a picnic), bonfire display next weekend. Few surveys done on y0ug0v this week too.
Current account is looking healthy which made me worry i'd overlooked something but I haven't, we're just managing really well.
Some deep cleaning of the house is needed this week so I'm going to make a start with the shower room. Time to get the z0flora out!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Happy cleaning!0
