Don't know about the rest of you but the amount of spiders in our house and all over the windows is getting out of hand.

Does anyone know where to get the spray that the professionals use to spary around the doors and windows to stop them coming in or know any other good ways to get rid of them?

  • Betterware (and some Pound/Discount shops) sell a product called Spiderstop containing natural chestnut extracts and clover leaf oil.

You spray this on window sills and around door ways etc.

If you are really phobic and you leave your windows open consider an insect screen (available on EBAY etc).
  • collect some conkers and keep them in bowls in each room , they hate the smell of them
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

I was going to say the same thing about conkers. We keep them near windows that we regularly open and in the last few months I've only killed 1 spider that I can recall and that was last week.

If you need some conkers get yourself down to Ikea. They don't sell them as such but there are a bunch of trees on the main walkway to the store but I must warn you, I got about a dozen of them last time I was there and I only stopped because I couldn't jump any higher to reach!

Slap it up him. What's wrong with people that they can't use a glass and a bit of paper to evict them? They give me the heebie jeebies big time but my lakeland spider catcher usually helps sort them humanely.

  • I have tried the Spiderstop and the conkers, but it doesn't seem to keep the really massive ones at bay. They totally freak me out. I've also tried the plug-in mouse deterrents as they are meant to help, but that didn't work either.
I've heard that spraying them with hairspray stops them in their tracks instantly, but haven't tried it!

Anyone who kills a harmless creature unnecessarily doesn't deserve sympathy when it backfires (literally in this case!). I save my humanity for the humane. So don't come crying to me when you break your big flappy foot :p

DON'T USE HAIRSPRAY! Sorry for shouting but I hate spiders and spraying them with hairspray just sends them mad, they run around while slowly suffocating - and because they're dying they don't care then about running into you/jumping off the walls etc....

And no, I have no humanity I'm afraid when it comes to spiders it's just that if you're scared anyway (like me!!!) seeing one of those massive house spiders darting around in panic is likely to give you a nervous breakdown!

I've got a plug in gadget from Amazon, it cost £30 but seems to be working. :T
